Skill Checks
When your character is required to make a skill check, roll 1d20 and add your ranks, the appropriate ability score modifier, and any other relevant modifiers.
Class Skills
On the chart below, a "C" indicates that a skill is a class skill. If you have ranks in a skill designated as a class skill, you also add +3 to the check.
Trained and Untrained Skills
If you have any ranks in a skill, you are considered trained. Some skills may only be used if you are trained in them (such as Alchemy). Others can be attempted even if you are untrained (such as Jump). If you are not trained in the skill (and it may be tried untrained) you may attempt the skill using only the bonus (or penalty) provided by the associated ability score modifier. (Relevant racial modifiers also apply.)
Higher ranks in some skills grant feat-like abilities.
High ranks in all Knowledge skills grant spell-like abilities.
